Arms lose circulation when sleeping

Question
I've been having problems where I wake up and one or both of my forearms is essentially dead weight. When it only happens to one of my arms, I need to use my working arm to move the dead arm to regain circulation. When doing so, I have noticed that my arm feels rigid/turgid with blood. I have also noticed that each time my elbow is bent less than 90? or so. It does not seem to matter if I sleep on my side, stomach, or back. When I wake up, my arm isn't being compressed by anything, just bent at the elbow. Any thoughts? Or concerns (blood clots, muscle damage, etc.)

Particulars:

-Occurring for several months now.

-29 year old Male

-non-smoker

-quite active

-205 lbs 5'11"

-normal range blood pressure

Thanks,

Pinocchio

Answer
tHIS IS Not a sleeping disorder and out of my expertise but from what you describe it sounds more like a circulation or arthritic problem.  You should see an orthopedic first, if all checks out a vascular doctor for blood flow but if it were I would definietely get an orthopedic consultation. feel free to email again karel
