Making noise in my sleep

Question
My boyfriend has made me aware of the fact that almost everynight I make a sort of loud chomping noise. The sort of noise someone makes when eating. He tries to wake me to stop me, but I just stir and fall straight back to sleep.

I dont understand why I do this or how to stop it, as I am now keeping my boyfriend up at night.

Answer
It could be some sort of snore or post nasal drip, you might try sleeping more elevated on 2 pillows and see if it helps.  Now if you are twitching in your sleep it could be seizures, but this is not what you describe.   be sure its not a snore, go to sleepnet.com click on sleep apnea, however you arent describing this, if it persists and if your daytime alertness is affected then it could be a sleep disorder and you need to see a sleep center, but it may be due to sinuses.  feel free to email again karel
