i am suffering from this problem since 1985,during intial stages of sleep,suddenly tingling electric sensations ascends from lower body to the brain stays for few seconds,in the meanwhile i am unable to move my body though my mind is awake.i had consulted dr ,who prescribed paroxetine tablet,10 mg one at night.i am taking this tablet since 5 years. last night i took this tablet but still i got this attack.my question is that is it safe to take it for so long.if i skip the tablet the attack is more severe.what should i do.... i am depressed.

These drugs are antidepressants if you take it for one night and not the next you will get the dreams worse than before, if you must come off the drug cut the dose in half stay on that for a week or two and keep cutting the dose until you are off it. There are so many other antidepressants to try, prozac is one, tofranil, etc. speak to your md.Ive been on my antidepressants over 30 years as long as you take liver function test yearly blood test from your md and they are fine then they are safe. feel free to email again karel
