jet lag

Question
I've been back from Korea for a little over a week now. The time difference is ahead 14 hours. Ever since I got back, I keep waking up after four hours and can't go back to sleep. I still sleep at my normal time, but then get up after four hours. I have not been able to get a full night, altho I do go back to sleep an hour or so after waking up, however it just feels like two long naps. I've tried taking melatonin before bed, but it doesn't keep me asleep. I exercise regularly and don't drink caffeine. What can I do?

Answer
Dont exercise at least 3 hours before sleep, that will disrupt your sleep. The only other thing you can do is make sure you go to bed and wake up the same time to readjust your chronobiologic clock due to the time difference. Also do not lie in the bed if youre twisting and turning.Get out of bed and do something boring like reading a book. Also go to sleepnet.com website.Click on insomnia and will explain to you your chronobiologic clock.Feel free to write again.Good luck.karel
