insomnia

Question
Hi Karel,

How do I cure insomnia? I've tried lots of things including:

Waking up the same time every day

Not taking caffeine or exercising at night

Sleeping pills

Keeping the room dark and quiet at night

...but haven't been able to fix the problem totally. What else should I do?

Thanks, Marcus

Answer
sleeping pills are only short term understand im not a md.i myself have narcolepsy.when you cant sleep dont stay tossing and turning ,get out of bed but do something tiresome and boring like reading ,this sometimes makes one tired then and the person would go to sleep. also stay away from cola, chocolate, or other caffeine, alcohol at least 3hours before bedtime as they will keep you awake, also they sell in health food stores or now even drugstores melatonin you take .3mg. i believe an our before bed some say that helps, if all else fails i strongly urge you seek a sleep center and get evaluated.good luck, karel, feel free to write again.
