Test Question

Question
Hi,

I recently underwent a sleep study and was told by the pulmonary physician that I experienced 25 events of lowered Pulse Ox levels. Do you know what the normal amount of events would be for someone w/ or w/o allergies?

Thanks,

Charles

Answer
Not knowing if there is a difference in people with or without pulse ox levels.Im a respiratory therapist, and in my field the average pulse ox for anyone is between 95 and 100 which for you means that you went under 25 times, which i believe may qualify you as sleep apnea,i suggest you contact  a sleep center and bring these results with you. However an asthmatic can also have lowered pulse ox.so check with a sleep specialist or your physician, dont let this go neglected as according to what you have told me, this means you are not getting enought oxygen to your brain and heart while you sleep, people with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, emphysema have this trouble so if you have one of these disease ask your pulmonologist if not seek a sleep center .good luck ,feel free to write again, karel
