Question
HI, I have been having trouble falling asleep and staying asleep for about a month now...some nights my legs ache and that is why I think I can't fall asleep as I can't find a comfy position, but other nights I just toss and turn cuz I can't fall asleep...odd thing is that I can take a nap during the day and usually have no trouble falling asleep...I only take a nap after many nights of lack of sleep...I don't know if my legs aching causes the sleeplessness or because I get so irritated when I toss and turn...ANY Ideas?
Answer
many times sleep can be disrupted if one drinks caffeine, eats chocolate or caramerl colored things, like pepsi, or coke, or exercises 3 hours before you go to bed.so if this is what you are doing,it will make your sleep very disrupted and prevent you from falling off to sleep.now if your ,legs are kicking during your sleep, this also makes restless sleep, and a sleep disorder called restless leg syndrome.if you notice your legs twitching or moving in your sleep i suggest you contact your md or visit a sleep center.or go to the website sleep net and you will find restless leg syndrome, however i believe your explaining your legs just being restless not twitching,so try staying away from the things above,if persist talk this over with your sleep physician or md,feel free to write again, karel
