1. what will happen to people when they lack sleep?

2. why children need more sleep than adults?

Answer
If a person lacks sleep , their level of alertness is impeded, they will forget more, make more errors, after losing too many days ,they may find that immune system even starts to go.hey get nausea, weakness,.Their iq is even lowered.I myself suffer from narcolepsy. In the am when Im more refreshed with my meds,my iq is above average. If i was to take the same exam after 3.I literally have borderline retarded.Children need more sleep than adults,as they are more active,so their brains need to rest,as well as a rested brain makes for a better immune system, and when one sleep at night as a child, the growth hormone spurts each night,so the child can grow. How the brain works during sleep.Sleep is divided into 2 kinds, rapid eye movement(rem)and non rapid eye movement(nrem)Rem one is sleeping but their eyes are flickering back and forth, this is their dreaming stage.NREM eyes are flickering but not dreaming, the normal person starts off with 60-90 minutes or nrem then goes into rem for about 30-60 minutes and they switch back and forth until thy awaken. For more info,go to website,sleepnet.com ,Click on insomnia, narcolepsy, and sleep disorders.Hope this helps. Also i would suggest you include sleep disorders like narcolepsy in your paper,so many know very little of it.You will find much info on this website, feel free to email again, good luck, karel
