Question
I have a hard time falling asleep at night. And when I do fall asleep, when I wake up in the morning, I'm still exhausted. Even in the mid-afternoon, I find myself yawning. What should I do?
Answer
First of all wake up and go to sleep the same time each night, wake up even if you didnt sleep.Your chronobiologic clock could be out of sync and doing this will put it back. You can go to sleepnet.com click on insomnia .Also at least 3 hours before med, avoid alcohol, caramel colored drinks, such as coke or pepsi, chocolate, and exercise, coffee or tea, as all these interrupt sleep. If this still persists you can try short term in the health food stores, melatonin i believe its .3mg,its natural but first ask your physician>If it continues longer than one month First get a physical with blood workup to rule out any anemia. Then I would suggest you get evaluated at a sleep center. Also if you take any meds many of them can cause disruptive sleep,so ask your doctor ,as dosage may need adjustment.Good luck, feel free to write again, karel
